Troop 45 takes great pride in being a “boy-led” troop. One of the fundamental principles of Boy Scouts is to teach leadership and responsibility by letting the boys plan and run as much of the troop’s activities as is practical and safe.
However, adults still play a critical role in our troop. Safe supervision by Boy Scout trained adults is an absolute requirement for all activities, and uniformed adult leaders — including the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters — are also involved in teaching Scout skills and providing experienced guidance to help Scouts progress.
In addition, many parents volunteer as part of the Troop Committee which helps with activity planning, fund raising, and other efforts to support the troop.
The safety of our youth always comes first — so all adult volunteers are carefully vetted by the Boy Scouts of America and required to participate in youth safety and protection training. Troop 45 thanks all the adult volunteers and uniformed leaders that have given so generously of their time to help the boys.
